Korea’s leading S Institute of Technology focused on technology development in the field of organic light emitting devices (OLED) where the leading countries in technology such as Japan and Germany monopolize major patents, and developed a new polymer used for the emitting layer of OLED and had a patent registered. However, the registration was canceled due to an objection by S Chemical, a Japanese competitor company, making S Institute of Technology’s efforts and costs for developing the technology for several years in vain. AIP, which represented the cancellation case, had sufficiently demonstrated the specificity and effectiveness of the polymer structure for OLED in this patent, overcoming the logic of the competing Japanese company and protecting the valuable assets of national development technology.
