A patent infringement lawsuit was filed against J, Korea’s leading comprehensive chemical company by a small US patent company M for infringing patent on abrasive slurry used in semiconductor processing. AIP, which represented this case, made the Patent Tribunal and the Patent Court decide that the patent was invalid and then the Supreme Court upheld the decision. During the infringement lawsuit, AIP proved non-infringement by asserting the defense of free technology to J’s products. As this case was decided, patent infringement claims raised by M to all relevant companies in Korea were resolved, and this case was actively referred in the relevant disputes abroad, and thus, AIP contributed to solving international disputes as well.
