Hanmi Semiconductor Co., Ltd. filed a lawsuit against Genesem Inc. in 2021 at the Seoul Central District Court, claiming patent infringement related to a semiconductor package handling device. Representing Genesem, AIP filed for an invalidation trial against Hanmi Semiconductor's patent and won the both cases of Invalidation trial in the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB) and the appeal case in Patent Court. Hanmi Semiconductor attempted to avoid invalidation through corrections requests, but this was also rejected by the Patent Court. The Seoul Central District Court, after waiting three years for the invalidation trial results, has finally rescheduled the trial date to July 2024. This case has experienced significant delays in the first instance litigation of patent infringement.
